The Churchill Challenge

We are delighted to announce that the 2015 Churchill Challenge competition will start on Friday 2nd January 2015!

A great way to get back into the competitive swing before the clay shooting season starts. This 100 bird English Sporting course is set over 9 stands with a 20 bird sequence on one stand. This is the perfect introduction to competitive clay shooting for the novice but at the same time presents challenging tests to the more experienced shot.

Prizes are awarded to AA, A, B & C classes so everyone has a chance of winning!

Every two weeks we will award 250 of our own Hellfire Clay cartridges to the highest scoring competitor within that two week period.

Entry fee is £40.00 – please call 01494 883227 to book in.

Entries are taken Monday to Saturday.

Please read the rules for further details – good luck!!

I shot this this morning with Banger (Gary). Lovely bright day.

It is not your regular 100 ESP shoot, as there are three 15/20 bird sequence stands. Full use of gun on the singles, so take a few extra cartridges. Even the 5 pair stands are simo on the last two pairs, so it's a real fun mix.

The first few stands are pretty steady, then it gets trickier on the sequences, where I really screwed up. I finished on a messy 83 which I am sure I can turn into a 90+ on a good day.

It is exactly the sort of course that will make many want to come back. Not outright tough as Paul Batchelor has already put in a 95. Steve Lovatt was shooting too when I left. I think a 97 will probably be the eventual HG.

A great fun course with a degree of variety that you rarely get. Enjoy!

I enjoyed that Wil, something different from the normal ,it will certainly pull people back for another go. Shot 89 all got a bit messy at the end.

The hubby and I shot this yesterday morning and it was great. I shot the 15/20 bird sequence stands really well but messed up on 2 others, but really enjoyed the targets and will definately go back for another go.

Had another go, improving to 91 but missed 5 easy targets I hit last time. AAAARGH. Good fun though.

i wouldnt be at all surprised with this shoot if a 99 is not the winner !!!!!!

we all used plastic wads

When Phil and I shot this we took plastic and fibres but did ask at reception before shooting and was told as it was a competition plastic wads could be used.

I shot this today, was fairly happy with 68 as I've not picked up a gun for a month.

Had a slow start but picked up towards the end.

Bumped in to Mr Rutherford to.

Anyone shooting it this week ? Fancy a day out
Hoping to try out some new fruit corner chokes, so probably this is an ideal shoot. Adam, you know RBSS handicap starts next week. Just thinking if you are travelling down you might want to do both in a day? But let me know if you fancy EJC this week. Cheers W

Yep - shot this on Saturday with Maddmatt

Good course - the sequence stands are good fun, 15 or 20 points to be scored from stands with 5 targets at them. Seems like there is something for everyone, including the usual driven off the tower.

I shot 77 - still rusty after my winter break, but a very enjoyable shoot - I'll be back for more next week.

Met Bisondan who was smoking them up.. good to meet you sir!
