So I have been planning for some time to get the reduced ooomph ejector springs from Mr. Flynn for the Perazzis. I got the payment to him and he musta been waiting cuz it seemed like they went out the same day I made the pay. We're talking biz oriented!!

So they got here yesterday and a nice looking product they are. Well packaged too BTW. Stuck a pair in the usual gun and took it out today. They certainly perform like advertised. Tossed the first barrel empty about four feet every time. Gotta be making life for the ejectors about half as hard as it was. Shooting both barrels the empties went the same dist and landed about an inch apart. I know that MX8 things are not known for breaking ejectors but I figure that these are now prolly gonna be good into the next century.

Like a goof I didn't get enough to do all the barrels.  That counting barrels and then times2 stuff is just so complicated.  Did get enough of the firing pin springs for all the toys but haven't put them in yet - a busy day tomorrow with them and the rest of the ejectors.

Not sure how the taxes and WTF will beat you if you want to try these, but I'll tell ya straight and true they look pretty nice and they certainly will be easier on your gun.

And he makes all kinds of springs for lotsa different guns

Or you could simply cut a couple of coils off your "stock" ejector springs!!( Which is what I have always done to my sporting guns!)

And you reckon I need maths lessons.

How far we're they ejecting the empties before????

We in England are not allowed to use our ejectors or we get moaned at in pet hates posts on forums.

Makes you wonder why their called ejectors.

wonko, you are 100% correct with JP products , brilliant stuff they produce, as it`s almost only f/pins and springs ,better than OEM,  very specialist !

they have a loyal following in SA too, as they post stuff down there, been using them for years.

Factory springs toss the empties a looong way.

My standard practice in the past too has been to chop the coils - 6 coils off a Perazzi ejector spring.  Did it to every one of them.  And not a bad result to speak of.  BUT - those springs in the guns here are all 30-40 years old and I just felt like replacing them would be a nice thing to do since I plan on keeping the ones in the safe now.  Mr. Flynn's products have a great rep and are more than competitively priced.  Tab A / Slot B situation for me.

As far as ejecting the empties - on trap and skeet fields here there are seldom bins.  If there are, I use them. If not then they hit the ground.  I feel that is a decision made by the grounds manager and I'm merely complying.

Ahhhh that's a nice thing to do. I bet those springs are truly greatfull.

Those springs have a hard life being springed and sprunged.

So back to the math. How many springs are going to be happy?

I don't get it. The same people are happy to leave the ground littered with piles of shot, wads, broken clays and very often unbroken clays then moan when you miss the feckin bin with an empty.

I say.. eject them as far in the air as poss. While they are in mid flight grab the gun by the barrels and hit a home run!!!!

ok.. now going to retire and watch this from a safe distance..

On the 3 occasions that I have shot in the States, I was told if the 'hulls' (note the Americanism) hit the ground, they belonged to the 'ground', if you could catch them, you could keep them. I believed that this was the reason for my American skeet vest having a large rear pocket complete with a full zip across the base, to empty same. I think it had something to do with reloading.

Ah, that would account for the B and the P guns having so much wood in the stocks. That clears that one up.

yep, Winchester empties are specific for reloading up to 10 times,, esp` for volumes, as in clays,,, was half price for me, I used to make my own shot too,, I did the sums for the uk,, totally not worth the effort, or maybe special rounds for some uses?

was going to say,, it is a huge waste to burn/bury empties,,, dunno how you would recycle them ?

It's just a gut feeling but it seems to me that recycling shotgun empties with a real menage of different materials w/ no inter-product consistency would be very complicated and/or expensive.  The reloader folks are prolly as close to recycle as the things are gonna get.

Personally I have found the Winchester products to be poop for reloading for near a couple decades.  Remingtons get my vote, and Federals second.

Finished up the spring swaps on the ejectors today.  Those that got 'em like 'em fine.  Turns out my count was off by half if I include a gun I plan to flip.  DUH!  Just not paying attention to all the barrels laying around.  Or maybe I just planned on the swap in the barrels in use right now.  Yeah, that must a been it.
