But has it not always been the case that a thick wallet can buy a GB vest?
No I am afraid that I disagree with that point really. You cannot buy yourself into a GBR team....because they want to win.....and up to BS getting involved...you only made it in on 1-3 in rankings from GBR selection shoots.Of course in reality we all know that competition shooting in UK is not a cheap hobby. You have to train, you have to travel and you also have to use hotels at lots of selection shoots if they are far from home.
Then when and if you win your place....you then have to self-fund to get yourself an air ticket, a hire car, a foreign hotel, find the ground, pay your entry, feed yourself, shoot your competition, return home with or without medals and hope that someone in shooting will have recognised your effort.....or even know that you went.
Sometime (a lot) you have to put up with the fact that even when you win....the report of your win might not even make a shooting magazine and most certainly will not make the front pages of the Cpsa website.....and might not even make the BICTSF website...(unless you are an ISSF discipline).
So in reality....even after you have put all this effort in....you find that the only ones interested ....are your own discipline shooters.
Do you think that that attracts those with a thick wallet....??
Or does this attract dedicated followers of the disciplines who scrap together their self-funding by whatever means possible to get out there and win...!!
Lets have some reality here pleeeeeeeeease.
I know the answer....but do most people?
