Hi there,

has anyone seen/got hold of/tried these?
I was in an Oakley store in the US looking for suitable (for shooting) replacement lenses and the guys in the store said I should look into the new Prizm ones.  Apparently they're quite hard to get hold of, but like all new things, they're meant to be the best lens "in the world".  I was quite taken that they would turn down a sale to recommend a "better" product so thought I'd look into them.

Funny things cultural differences: I had asked in a UK Oakley store about lenses for clay shooting and received only rather shocked expressions; ask in Texas and the immediate reaction is "what gun do you shoot and where?"

Thanks,

Richard

HI!

They're not released in the UK yet and are still (apparently) only for current issue to US Military, but i'm sure they will be available soon.

I'm currently waiting for some info from Oakley direct and will post as soon as i know.

Ah, Unobtainium lenses, figured they would be! Would be great to hear if you get any further info. I'm back in the US in a couple of weeks, will see whether they have been released to the general population.
Thanks for looking into this.

Was in the US again last week, apparently they're only released to active and retired military and law enforcement officers. For now, but they will be available to the general public eventually.
Ed, if you can get hold of some before that, please let me know!

Yes, Oakley UK are saying nothing about them whatsoever. I'll put the rep in a sleeper hold next week until he divulges the info!

Hi Ed - did the rep wake up from the sleeper hold long enough to let you know whether the lenses might make it to civvy street any time soon?

If not, can we have a chat about some new, lighter colour (currently have iridium black polarised) lenses for some XLJs?

Thanks,

RP

He says they are still US military only but may be released to general consumers next year.

XMetal frames are also making a brief return with two limited edition pieces so i'll be ordering some of those in!

Ed, two separate Oakley stores in NY told me the Prizm lenses would be on "general" release in Sept/Oct this year. They wouldn't let me pre-order...
