Well it had to happen one day I guess. Harry has finally whooped my ass at UT today at a Rugby.

He stuck in a very impressive 86 against my miserable 78 and won D class in the process. Pity I had only entered him as Targets Only! I guess entry fees are going to cost more in future?

Well done to Harry.

Its a strange feeling being beaten by your son, a mixture of sorrow because he beat you and happyness because he put in a good enough score to win with.

Tell him very well shot from me.

drown your sorrows mate :)

There are so many positive aspects to that I can't even imagine complaining about it.

You be looking for some special reward for each time the kid beats you.  Within reason of course  :haha:    :haha:

It's happened again. Thankfully this time I paid for comp for both Harry and I and he won D class (joint winner) again including a 24 ex 25 UT

Onwards and upwards H

Yeah, very proud of him. He was 18 or 19 straight on his third line when he missed one but kept it together for the remaining targets, including that all important 25th target. Scoring other squads, its amazing how many miss the last target.

Last round he was straight for 16 then missed the next 4! Managed to pull it back together for a 21 though.

Now if we could could figure out how to wake him up for his first (16) and second (19) lines we'd be well away!

Really made up for him. His first proper competition payout (which will go into the cartridge fund he he) so hopefully this will will spur him on for the UT selection shoot in a couple of weeks.

I know I shouldn't get carried away but thats 2 D class wins in a row and his averages are climbing nicely. C class by the end of this period me thinks (for Harry anyway).

As you know I was on the abacus scoring for your last round.  I thought Harry was going to straight it, he'd shot some difficult targets well.  The light was changeable with windy conditions which dodged the targets about a bit.

I'm pretty certain he looked up at the abacus as he waited to move onto peg 2, probably had the 'I've only got 9 to go' thought and he missed the next four targets.  His timing went very slow from call to shot, probably trying to make sure but all it does is makes it worse.  We've all done it, it's better to ignore the abacus, and keep going until the referee shouts round finished.

Good score and hopefully he'll have a good two days at Southern Counties next month.

Good to meet you yesterday Phil and thanks for the observations re Harry. I'll be sure to pass them on.

Kind of you not to mention my shooting!

Agree with phil seeing the finish line is fatal, makes you try and make sure which is guess what, fatal. Living in the moment is more difficult than you think, but that is one if the secrets of high consistent scores.

Well I live in the past mate, that's why I'm buggered!

First UT selection shoot at Southern Counties over the weekend and job done by Harry. He managed a 165 ex 200 to finish 3rd in D class but more importantly he finished 3rd in the juniors for that all important GB team selection process. For good measure he also won a gold medal in the Colts class (we didn't know there was one?). He managed to keep all but one of his scores at 20 or above with only one hiccup score at 16.  His scores were 23 22 20 16 21 20 21 22. Really proud of the way he kept his head under pressure although he did miss a few of his last targets. Long way to go yet with a further 3 more selection shoots but off to a good start. Onwards and upwards Harry.

Oh and he also beat me by 10 targets as well.
